As 2023 drew to a close, two HOM Luxembourg delegates, Patrick Byrne and Javier Garcia Alves, went on mission to C\u00f4te d’Ivoire and Senegal to lead the final elements in the practical phase of the 2022-23 facilitator training programme for Francophone Africa. From 21 to 27 November, they were in Bingerville, 20 km from Abidjan, to work with trainees from C\u00f4te d’Ivoire and Mali; and from 28 November to 6 December, they were in Rufisque, 12 km from Dakar, with trainees from Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

27 November saw the conclusion of the visit to C\u00f4te d’Ivoire by the 3 trainers, Javier Garcia Alves and Patrick Byrne, from Luxembourg, and Loret Mougani, from South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visit was marked by a healing of memories workshop with particularly deep life-story sharing sessions and individual and collective healing experiences; also encouraging was the clear progress made by the 5 trainee facilitators in their practical training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senegal<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mission continued from 30 November to 4 December at the Mount Tabor Centre in Rufisque, Senegal. The trainee facilitators from Senegal and the DRC (Goma) first spent a day of training together in a joyful atmosphere. Afterwards, they welcomed a dozen participants from the region, young and old, who had come to experience the process of healing memories for themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n
